Our Favorite Button Down

October 12, 2016

There’s nothing like a white button down shirt.  Whether we wear it to the office or just casually, it is a classic staple for our wardrobe.  Our favorite button down this season is actually made by HD in Paris.  We found it in Anthropologie for under $100.  Although this may seem pricier than the average shirt, there are good reasons to invest in this one.

Here’s the shirt untied… and it’s surprisingly still cute even when loose; however most of us don’t want clothes to be too baggy because it gives off the illusion of extra pounds.  This is actually why the seams under the breast and the seam around the natural waistline are so important.  When the hanging pieces are tied into a knot it instantly takes the shirt from shapeless to fitted in seconds!

In order to do that, you’ll tie the two hanging pieces just as you would if you were starting a shoe lace.  Then there are so many different variations from here. You can double tie the knot and let the ends hang loose….

…or you can tie it in a pretty bow.  What’s important to note here is that the tied bow AND the seam that runs horizontally helps to emphasize the waistline….

… and voila!  Insta-curves!!   What’s even better is that this button down works on women of all shapes and cup sizes, and when worn with some nice fitting jeans it helps to streamline the look.

To make it more fall appropriate you can pair it with your favorite mustard colored sweater…

…and maybe some suede mules to match!
