Since we live in LA and the chances of us having a white Christmas are .00000001% we decided we had to make our own white Christmas. At least on the mantle. There are so many fun ways to decorate for the holidays but we couldn’t resist bringing a little winter magic indoors. And the best part is everything we used can be found at any craft store for a total of $50!!!!!
When we were trying to decide what to do with the mantle this year we knew we wanted it to keep it neutral in color with just the natural greenery popping. We headed out to Michaels with this idea in mind and bought these little bottle brush trees in shades of white and brown to stick with the monochromatic theme. The big “splurge” was on the two bigger white trees at $8.95 a pop and grabbed a bag of “snow”. We had the idea of wanting to make a sort of snow globe with the bottle brush trees and looked for glass containers for it but couldn’t find any that were under $10 per glass. That’s when I realized, DUH! we use drinking glasses everyday! We can just use those!! So that’s what we did.
We sprinkled the snow all over the mantle to start then coupled the bottle brush trees together in varying heights and stuck the glass on top. Then we sprinkled some more snow on top of the glasses.
Then we added the fresh greenery and lights across the mantle and in the vases from Rolling Greens (if you live in LA you HAVE to go. It’s one of my all time favorite stores).
And there you have it! A simple winter wonderland in your very own home no matter where you live! How are y’all decorating for the holidays? Let us know, we’d love to see!
