Here’s a fun little know fact, in the early 80s my mama started her own all natural skin care line. It was called Honey Bee Natural. She made the most wonderful products from all natural products and zero preservatives. I grew up my whole life with lip balm, lotion, and face scrubs she made. It always felt so much better using those fresh made products than the stuff that had been sitting on a drugstore shelf for who knows how long! It wasn’t the products alone that felt so good though, it was the process of making them. It was time spent together and it was putting our energy toward treating ourselves. She used many different essential oils for different purposes (like orange for a brightening and energizing toner to use in the morning to wake yourself up) but one of her favorites was lavender. She even kept a little bowl of it in the kitchen so our kitchen always smelled like lavender too. So with that in mind and our focus on self love this week we’ve decided to make a lavender sugar scrub.
This recipe is so simple. Truly all you need is sugar, coconut oil, lavender, and lavender essential oil.
2 c. sugar
1/2 c. coconut oil
2 t. lavender buds (we used a combination of fresh and dried)
10 to 15 drops of lavender essential oil
Combine sugar and coconut oil and stir until completely mixed together. Add lavender buds and essential oil and stir again.
Package in an airtight container such as a mason jar or bell jar
As you can see these make great gifts too!
