Peachy Keen Sneakers DIY

February 27, 2017

Wooohooooo!!  This is the first fashion DIY of 2017 and we are doing a take on the cute shoe trend that’s going around.  All over we’ve been seeing shoes with tacos or sunglasses or some adorable phrase and I decided to show you guys how easy it is to make some yourself!  For this week, we are all about the color peach so in honor of that I’m making “Peach(y) Keen” sneakers.  It’s so simple and easy and completely inspired by one of my favorite emojis :).  You can rock it yourself or gift it to your friends!  I know a lot of people don’t know how to draw so I’m taking simple shapes and coloring so you can follow along.  Here goes…

SUPPLIES

-1 pair of white canvas sneakers from Target   for only $16.99

-1 pack of Tulip Dual-Tip Fabric Marker for only $13.98.  You can go to Michaels and purchase individual colors, but this pack is more bang for your buck!

Step 1.  Take your neon orange fabric pen and draw a heart!  Be sure to use the brush tip side.  The key here is to do one side first and then overlap the other side to give it dimension.  ***Be sure you are drawing on the shoe that goes on your RIGHT FOOT***

Step 2.  Fill in the heart.  It’s best to do one coat because this will be the highlight on your peach.

Step 3.  Draw a curved line from the top of your heart to the bottom.  It should look like a butt!  LOL

Step 4.  Shade in the bottom of the heart so it kind of looks like an arrow pointing down.  Shade about halfway up the heart.

Step 5.  Repeat this step using the red fabric pen.  Go up a little over 1/4 of the way up.

Step 6.  Take your darker green fabric pen and draw and outline of the leaves.   Use the fine tip side for this.  Try to follow the shape of the top of the heart and leave some negative space!

Step 7.  Shade in the leaves with the lighter green fabric pen.

Step 8.  Take the shoe that goes on your LEFT FOOT and write the word KEEN using the fine tip side of the neon orange fabric pen.  You can use these stencils from the store for this if you’re too nervous to write it yourself!  Go over it a couple of times until your lines are thick.

Step 9.  Take the red pen on the brush side and only go over the bottom, tops, and inside of the e’s.  This will give the letters dimension and an ombre effect.

Step 10.  Draw your peaches all over the shoe in varying sizes and directions!  And voila… you have your own adorable pair of Peachy Keen shoes!!!
