Post Holiday Relaxation

We hope you all had a truly amazing Thanksgiving. We spent quality time with family and ate our weight in stuffing and pies. But between all the cooking and baking and decorating it can sometimes feel like you need a break after your holiday. For this we found ourselves sleeping in a little bit later and cozying up with a yummy cup of chai tea. It’s just the thing to still satisfy your sweet tooth but helps to calm you too. Our go to recipe is listed below…

Ingredients:

2″ piece of fresh ginger, cut into thin rounds

2 cinnamon sticks

2 t. black peppercorns

10 whole cloves

6 cardamom pods

6 c. cold water

6 bags of black tea (we used Darjeeling)

2 c. whole milk

1/2 c. packed brown sugar

Combine ginger, cinnamon sticks, black peppercorns, cloves, and cardamom in medium saucepan. Using mallet or back of large spoon, lightly crush spices. Add 6 cups water; bring to boil over high heat. Reduce heat to medium-low, partially cover pan, and simmer gently 10 minutes. Remove from heat. Add tea bags and steep 5 minutes. Add milk and sugar. Bring tea just to simmer over high heat, whisking until sugar dissolves. 

Now cozy up with your furry friend and take a little breather after you holiday weekend!
