As y’all know by now, when June and I get in the mood for a cocktail it’s 99% of the time gonna be a margarita that we go for. And while that’s always our favorite we like to switch that lime out for grapefruit sometimes and enjoy and paloma. And we love this recipe that infuses strawberries and chamomile into the mix!
The slight sweetness to this drink comes from the chamomile honey syrup. You’ll want to make this ahead of time so it’s completely cooled by the time you make your drink.
Chamomile Honey Syrup:
3/4 c. water
1/3 c. honey
2 Chamomile Tea bags
Combine water and honey in a small saucepan and bring to a low boil, simmer for 1 minute. Then remove from heat and add the two tea bags, cover pot and let steep for 10 minutes. Then remove tea bags and let it cool
For the drink
3 oz. fresh grapefruit juice
2 T. chamomile honey syrup
2 oz. tequila (omit to make it virgin, which is equally delicious!)
Fresh sliced strawberries
Start by slicing up 2-4 strawberries depending on how big a glass you use. Then squeeze your grapefruit into glass. 3 ounces is about 1/2 a grapefruit.
Then add your tequila
And chamomile honey syrup
Then muddle your strawberries. I got these muddler straws so long ago and they’re no longer available but HERE are some similar ones
Add some ice and top it all off with some sparkling water
We topped it all off with a few more strawberry slices and one baby strawberry skewered.
