Over the holidays June and I had a conference call with a marketing strategist and she got us so pumped for future ideas for our little company! One of her pieces of advice was to journal; journal every single day. She said that most of the time we have the ideas already, we just have to get out of our own way to realize it; and this is as true in life as it is in business. She said it's an exercise to help you to trust your own gut. When she was talking to us she kept pointing out the times we got really excited. She said THAT is what you need to be doing more of. So when June and I hung up with her and continued talking to each other we realized just how true that is. And right then and there we made it our goal for 2018 to write a journal for Soma & Ulte. Already we feel more focused and like we're heading in the right direction! As you can tell from our pictures when we're together we don't take ourselves too seriously so one of our biggest goals for this year is to have more fun, playful post. So y'all can expect to see a lot more of that!!
As with anything, cute tools make the task more fun! These pens from Anthropologie are just to precious for words! And we love this water color notepad from Paper Source
And of course as is customary for the new year, I made more goals. I don't necessarily do New Years resolutions because I feel like any day is a great day to work on bettering yourself; but being our first home post of the year I thought I'd share my other goals in addition to the S&U journaling. One of my biggest problems is that I don't drink enough water (how many times do I have to read every model's secret is drinking TONS of water before I believe it?!) June doesn't have this problem at all, in fact you'd be hard pressed to find her without at least 3 drinks! I will say all I drink is a cup of coffee in the morning sometimes and anything else is water but I just don't drink enough of it.
Another is moving my body more. I know, I know, working out is on everyone's list but it's not even just that. I just have to get my body moving more! For my job I have to be in front of my computer all day. Granted I can stand up and I'm on set not at a desk but it's still a long time to be stagnant. So even if it's just stretching, I'm making it a goal to get moving every. single. day.
And the last one but probably the most important one for me is to work on having more patience. It's crazy how impatient I am y'all! As soon as I get it in my mind that I want to do or make something, I HAVE to do it right then and there. Like even waiting for glue to dry is hard for me sometimes! I know this is one that will take some time to truly master but for now when I find myself getting impatient I'm trying to be thankful for being a part of the process. Whether that's because I can physically do it or if it's just because that time to let the glue dry allows be extra time to cuddle my kitties or water the plants. Whatever the reason I'm trying to be more aware.
What about yall? Do you make New Years resolutions? If so, what are they? I'm sure there are plenty more I need to be adding to my list! :)
