If y'all follow us on instagram then you know I've been in Hawaii this past week and one of the prettiest things about hawaii (other than the beaches, the water, the waves, the sunsets, the sunrises, you get it!) is the hibiscus all over the place!! My fiancé and I actually went to the Waimea Bay botanical gardens today where we learned there were over 200 different species of hibiscus! And each one of them is more beautiful than the next! And one thing I notice when you're on vacation; whether a tropical island or a mountain cabin; is that you take the time to really enjoy each and every little thing. We need to bring that into our every day life! One of those things is making a special drink and this iced hibiscus latte is definitely special!
To make this little treat you need:
5 hibiscus tea bags
5 cups of water
3 tbsp of sugar
2 1/2 cups of milk (we used almond but you can use whatever kind you like)
Start by bringing 5 cups of water to a boil. Steep tea bags in the water for 5 minutes. While the water is still hot, add the sugar and mix to dissolve. Transfer tea to a container to set it in the fridge. At this point we removed the tea bags but you can keep them in if you want stronger tea. Once the tea has cooled add in milk and pour over ice to serve immediately!
Now relax and enjoy your sweet treat and savor the moment; you deserve it!! It is Friday after all!
