Desert Dames OOTD

May 14, 2018

It has been dream for us, probably since the inception of Soma & Ulte, to do a photoshoot in the desert.  We appreciate the expansive beauty of nature, we're both in love with the warmth of the sun, and on top of that we LOVE doing things outside the box.  We haven't done an "editorial" shoot in a while so we thought this was the perfect opportunity since we were going to be in Vegas for the week!  So on our way home from Nevada, we stopped by the infamous Zzyzx Road and stumbled upon this gorgeous lake bed.  There was not a soul in sight... so we set up our tripod, snapped some pics, and basked in the glow of the desert.

When we were thinking of what to wear for this shoot, we knew we wanted something ethereal.  Luckily, we found these beautiful mesh dresses at Fashion Nova!  This is not our usual go-to store, but it had exactly what we were looking for, and for a very reasonable price.  This dress was only $24.99!  The smock bust line is entirely stretchy so it fits a variety of bra sizes and the spaghetti straps are adjustable.

The dress cinches at the waist and is gathered, so the skirt is flowy, romantic, and definitely picks up in the wind!  As you can see, the dress is very see through, though, so we chose to wear white bathing suits underneath for cover.

The length is perfect for tall ladies (Connie is 5'10 and it hurts her perfectly without shoes.  I have to pick up the skirt to wear it barefoot or just wear it with 3 inch heels.  I'm 5'4.  So for those going to festivals or desert or beach parties you may want to keep that in mind!

The tiered ruffle layers of the skirt in the desert definitely make us feel like we're in the modern day wild, wild west LOL.

We had so much fun playing dress up .... we hope this inspires you to go jump into your own adventure!!

XOXO,

Soma & Ulte
