When was the last time you had breakfast in bed? It's one of those things we all love but seem to reserve for those rare hotel stays. Well I'm on a mission to change that and I have a few tips to make breakfast in bed super easy and manageable!
The first tip is to keep it simple, or as my dad would say K.I.S.S. (keep it simple stupid :) I think the reason breakfast in bed gets a rep for being difficult is because so many people want to really WOW someone and decide it's the time to bust out the homemade waffles, frittata, AND their new scone recipe they're just dying to try. While I admire the ambition this isn't the time. Just a simple recipe, some toast and coffee will do!
Now for the "simple recipe" comes my second tip. A recipe you can make the night before is ideal! I make these overnight oats on a weekly basis and it couldn't be easier. You want something you can grab, put on the tray and go. There is nothing worse than having someone wake up and get out of bed while you're in the middle of making their breakfast!
My third tip is to add in those little extra things! I think we can all agree fresh flowers make anything better, even if you just head out into the garden and cut a few blooms. The other special thing to me is anything in miniature! While June and I were in Vegas last week we got breakfast that came with teeny tiny individual jams for our toast and you'd think we'd won the lottery with our level of excitement. My fiancé and I put honey in our coffee so this mini honey jar was perfect!
And my final tip is to treat yoself! Who says you can't give yourself this start to the morning?
And if you're interested in my overnight oats recipe, here it is!
1/2 cup almond milk
1/2 cup oats
1/4 cup greek yogurt
1 Tbsp maple syrup
1 tsp chia seeds
Fruit for topping
Mix together almond milk, oats, yogurt, maple syrup, and chia seeds in a mason jar (or anything you can seal) and store in the fridge overnight. In the morning top with fresh berries and any fruit that is in season. That's it!
I hope this inspires y'all to indulge in breakfast in bed a little bit more!
