Happy fashion Monday, everyone!!! September is officially underway and last night was a celebration of a new moon :). New moons are usually symbolic of new beginnings and a sense of starting fresh, which is also why having green as the color of the week is the perfect way to honor that.
When it comes to the color green, it is not surprising that we think of nature. When you're out and about (unless your in the concrete jungle), you'll most likely be surrounded by a wide range of greens. Because of this strong visual connection, a majority of people would also associate green with new beginnings, as green is what pops up when new plant life emerges in spring.
Green also usually emerges in nature where there is plenty of water, so psychologically we associate the color with a thing that keeps us alive and is key to our survival! This is why when we see green, it usually makes us feel so good and refreshed!!
According to Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute says, "Psychologically, green affects the nervous system, causing us to breathe slowly and deeply, helping the heart to relax by shlowing the production of stress hormones." Honestly, this makes so much sense to Connie and I because both of us feel immensely enriched by being out with nature. And as I'm slowing down my lifestyle and starting to meditate regularly, I've been drawn to growing plants now. My mom, who is an AMAZING green thumb, has said that it has been a source of happiness for her for so many years and now I absolutely know why. Finally, I feel like I'm really starting to understand the power of green!
When it comes to energy in Indian thought, green is actually the color of the fourth chakra (the heart chakra!). For those who may not know what a chakra is, according to the law of attaction, "The 7 chakras in the body are distinct energy centers that start at the top of your head and end at the bottom of your spine. They regulate all parts of your bodily system, influencing everything from emotional processing to resistance to disease." It is said that the heart chakra is connected with love, relating, compassion, and integration and that the green color of the heart chakra is symbolic of health, abundance, and prosperity (helloooooo cash money!). As you can see, the color green is rich with positivity!
Here are the some other positive personal attributes associated with the color green, according to ARECONNECTING.COM:
-sympathy and compassion
-a generous nature
-a loving nature, particularly with animals and children
-harmony and balance
-an understanding nature
So when you wear this color, keep these in mind!
So what do you think about wearing green now? I feel pretty healed and happy myself :)
